Are you giving it enough time?

The first half of 2021 is over and guess what? You survived!

So, for that, good job!

As we approach 2021, I like to usually dive right into setting goals and making things happen. New year, new you, right?

This year, I’m going to approach things a little differently.

Last year was stressful. It was stressful for everyone.

Maybe you’re feeling like a little bit of a failure because you didn’t reach those goals you set out to achieve.

No point in getting down. No point in worrying about the past. No point in beating yourself up because it’s the past.

Today, we aren’t going to dive deep into roadmapping out the year because this year we are going to ease into it step by step.

I want to talk about consistency and how there really is no overnight fix.

Each day we are bombarded by stimuli. People, products, electronics, and the list goes on.

This can be overwhelming. I know it overwhelms me.

I love social media and the internet. It helps me grow my business and impact more people.

It also gives anyone a voice, qualified or not. It gives anyone the opportunity to sell a product or service that doesn’t work.

That’s a problem and a common one in the health and wellness industry.

Lose 10 pounds in a day by taking this pill.

Get six-pack abs in 30 days by doing these exercises.

Buy this program and equipment and you will lose 10% body fat in a month.

Those aren’t real. Maybe it worked for a couple of people but these quick fixes have created a problem.

We are such a “gimme now” society because technology has made it that way.

Two-day shipping from Amazon, communicate with anyone around the world instantly from your phone, order dinner and it is delivered in no time!

Those are great things but not everything, especially when it comes to your health, works that way.

Our big core value at Adam Clark Fitness is “Get 1% Better Every Day.” This falls in line with Darren Hardy’s “The Compound Effect.” (if you haven’t read that book or MINE, read it!)

If you want to achieve results, it’s about putting in the work every single day. It’s about seeking continuous improvement.

Guess what?

It’s not sexy but it works and it’s sustainable.

So next time you get down because you didn’t reach your goal, ask yourself, “Was I consistent, and did it give it enough time?”

Be consistent. Seek continuous improvement. Dig in for the long haul.

That’s how you get results.

Here’s to a great 2021!

I’ll leave you with this quote from Ray Kroc, the man who made McDonald’s a global power (ironic since it’s fast food but you’ll get the point and I find the concept of McDonald’s from a business standpoint fascinating). He was asked how it felt to be an overnight success and responded, “I was an overnight success all right, but thirty years is a long, long night.”
