We are into quarter three of 2023. How are you doing?

First, I want you to reflect on some wins this year, some losses (areas for improvement) and goals for the remaining portion of the year.

Next, identify where you have been consistent.

Sometimes that can be hard because consistency is what equals success.

Check out these examples:

If you consistently lift weights and challenge yourself, you will become stronger and build muscle.

If you consistently eat more calories than you need, you will gain weight.

If you consistently read, you will not only read more books but also enrich your mind.

If you consistently save money, you will grow your bank account.

Good or bad, if you consistently do something it equals something larger.

In James Clear’s book, “Atomic Habits”, consistency is king and here are three lessons to remember and why implementing consistency in areas of your life will result in exponential growth.

  1. Consistency doesn’t mean perfection

No one is perfect so trying to be perfect will mean instant failure. If you exercise 13 out of 14 days, does that mean you lost all of your progress and should quit? Absolutely not. Being consistent means doing things most of the time. If you want positive results, do something right most of the time. Instead of quitting with one bad day, remember this: A missed day is just a missed day but two missed days are the start of a new habit. Just get back on track.

  1. Consistency is sometimes boring

Do you get bored by doing the same thing every day? That’s normal and especially with this digital age, we are always bombarded with stimuli and the “next great thing.” No one is successful in two weeks. No one is successful in two months. We are a work in progress and you must continue to do the little things and check off the box. Every check mark is a step for the type of person you want to become. By flip flopping diets or exercise programs every two weeks, you don’t give yourself enough time for results. Be consistent.

  1. Consistency trumps intensity

Intensity is great when it’s right, but most of the time, it’s not right. Consistency trumps intensity because consistency gets results. Instead of focusing on the BIG goal (which can be overwhelming), what if you focused on doing something daily to get there? Want to run a marathon? Start checking off the box of running three times per week. Do that consistently and you will get results.

What are you consistently doing RIGHT NOW that is working in your favor?
